Linguistic Historiography: themes, history, and traditions
In a concise manner, we can say that Linguistic Historiography is a scientific discipline whose objective is to describe and interpret linguistic knowledge produced since the first written document. This area was consolidated in Brazil between the late 1980s and early 1990s through the work of Professor Cristina Altman, who, since then, in addition to consolidating the field, has trained several generations of researchers, in addition to keeping Brazilian historiography in constant dialogue with important foreign researchers in the area. This thematic dossier aims to present Brazilian Linguistic Historiography to a wider audience as well as to portray a small portion of its history.
