Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the strategies used in two sections of the book Way to English (TAVARES; FRANCO, 2020) intended for Brazilian English language learners from 6th grade. We are interested in the strategies that dialogue with the affective domain of learning. Concerning the affective goals set forth in the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC), the textbooks’ reformulations, which occurred in the last three years, tried to establish links with the document. For this discussion, we explored the skill “take interest in the text read” (EF06LI12), as stated in the BNCC. We elected the Tensive Semiotics, based on Zilberberg (2011), a theoretical unfolding of Discursive Semiotics, as a theoretical and methodological tool. Similarly, we started from the affective scheme proposed by Bloom, Krathwohl and Masia (1982), a classification of educational objectives in the field.
Keywords: tensive semiotics; teaching; BNCC; textbook; socio-affective competencies.
