The narrative gender in the language of children with neurological empairments

The aim of this paper is to analyze the narrative of children with linguistic difficulties due to neurological impairments, considering the discursive intention and the dialogical interactions in the speech therapy process. The theoretical perspective in this study is based on the enunciative-discursive
approach, which states that language occurs in social interactions and is constitutive of subjects. The selected data of two children were collected by video recording in speech therapy meetings. The narratives (or the attempts of narratives) are dialogically built between child and therapist. Although
children are not considered independent narrative tellers, they use non-verbal enunciation (by the use of deixis, gestural and/or facial expressions etc.), in order to make it “reportable”, from what is inferred the importance of the discursive intention and the constitutive incompleteness of meaning.
