Abstract

The “theatre of absence” belongs to the last phase of Carmelo Bene’s theater. In the essay which Deleuze dedicates to Bene he evokes an artistic dimension defined as “minor”. Illustrating his notion of “major language” and “minor language”, Deleuze explains that the “minor” use of a language consists of many constants, transformation of structural homogeneities in heterogeneities, and deconstruction of that use that considers language as a state of power. The distinction done by
Gramsci can help to focus on some points of the Deleuzian interpretation.
