Abstract

This article describes and analyzes anaphoric direct object in synchronic corpus which consists of letters written by renowned Brazilians in the nineteenth century. The aim is to register the variation pattern of this variable in order to analyse the decrease of the use of accusative clitic and its subsequent replacement by the null object, which was already registered in Brazilian Portuguese..
