Abstract

The short story “Meio Covarde” by Ivan Ângelo, is the object under analysis of this paper, which follows the French Semiotics as theoretical reference. In this short story the enunciator projects a narrator who recounts an episode in his life that occurred when he was still young. During this period, he met a woman, who was his neighbor and much older. The text narrates the relationship between them and the loving and sexual initiation of the actor. The aim of this paper is to analyze the construction of the actor, as a subject of the enunciate, and the transformations of state that he suffers from the experiences in his relationship with the actor “Tereza”, his neighbor. This paper also analyzes the elements of the narrative and discursive level of the generative process of meaning in the text, by observing the strategies used by the enunciator to make the enunciate believe in the enunciated text.
