The intertextual problematization in Luiz Vilela’s novel

Abstract

This paper shows how the novel O inferno é aqui mesmo (1979), by Luiz Vilela, dialogues with the novel Recordações do escrivão Isaas Caminha (1909), by Lima Barreto and the play Huis Clos (1945), by Jean-Paul Sartre, updating questions that are present in some texts of the Brazilian and world literature, as the usage of roman à clef, the relationship between journalism and literature and the search of a meaning for the human existence. The perspective of this paper considers and understands the problematization, descontextualization and recontextualization
of the intertextual repossession are traits of Luiz Vilela’s contemporaneity.
