Considerations about the polemic nature of the formula “distance education”

This paper describes and exemplifies the discursive meaning production process
about the (non) acceptance of distance education as a learning area. Therefore, we proceed to the analysis of discourses pro and contra the distance education, specially its controversial features. This work is part of a larger investigation about the notion of formula in Discourse Analysis: to be the polemical is one of the four constitutive features of the discursive formula (KRIEG-PLANQUE, 2010). We also resorted to the concepts of “global semantics” and “ruled interincomprehension” as proposed by Maingueneau (2008).
