System and relation in Ferdinand de Saussure’s Theory of value

This paper aims to analyze the elaboration of the principle of linguistic value in the set of manuscripts “Notes pour le cours III”. The main goal of this analysis is to show that the presentation of the linguistic value in this set of manuscripts allows us to know not only the elaboration of the “Theory of Value”, but also Saussure’s search for a definition for his notion of system. Also, it highlights the importance of the notion of relation, in which concerns the functioning of langue. This paper is justified by the fact that linguistic value is a fundamental principle for the delimitation of modern Linguistics, and, therefore, deserves an analysis of all its available sources.
