Refining of the construction of the meaning: a study on the expressions of space and motion

In this paper, we see the extent to which mental simulation can capture the subtleties of language when it links linguistic knowledge to sensorimotor experiences. In general, the results showed that the simulation becomes more detailed in terms of linguistic clues provided by the utterances and linguistic patterns analyzed in terms of grammatical constructions, and the resolved semantic specifications in ongoing communicative context during the reading / listening stories. In this study, we analyzed expressions of place and movement. To that end, we used an embodied approach to construction grammar, which allowed us to identify the types of imagery constructed during the analysis of linguistic constructions for space and motion and how the elements that make up these schemes are connected during the process of mental simulation.
