Langue, langage and parole in Ferdinand de Saussure’s value theory

This paper develops an analysis of the set of manuscripts ‘Notes for the Third Course’ in view of the delimitation process of ‘langage’, ‘langue’ and ‘parole’ as component concepts of the conceptual tripartion in Ferdinand de Saussure’s ideas. Therefore, in the analysis we could find that the distinction between these three terms rises, in the ‘Notes for the Third Course’, simultaneously with the ‘Value Theory’ – the principle that governs how the langue works. Furthermore, we can see that this relation between the linguistic value and the delimitation of this conceptual tripartion can also be found in the edition of the Course in General Linguistics, once it is through the delimitation of langue as the linguistics’ object of study is what made possible the Value Theory.
