Abstract

This article aims to analyze the contributions of research carried out between 2000 and 2019 on literacy for the deaf, in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD). We adopt as a theoretical framework Cavalcanti (2011), Cárnio, Couto e Lichtig (2000), Fernandes (2006), Quadros e Schmiedt (2006), Lacerda, Albres e Drago (2013), Soares (2003), Sousa (2014), Sousa e Mourão (2018), among others. We opted for qualitative research, and the data collected totaled twenty-seven articles. For data analysis, we used the methodological procedure of content analysis by Bardin (2016). The results showed us little research in this database, addressing the theme proposed here. However, several contributions to the bilingual education of deaf people were found, prioritizing school activities and experiences based on visual aspects.
