Blended learning as a tool to encourage reading classics in high school

Abstract

Considering the low indicators of literary literacy of high school students (FAILLA, 2016), the aim of this study was to investigate if the contributions of hybrid education can influence the formation of readers in this school stage. The theoretical support was offered by authors who reflect on the importance of reading classical works and on hybrid teaching. The methodological option was for a case study, an intervention carried out in two rooms of a public school in the interior of São Paulo, with reading activities on Jorge Amado’s novel Capitães da Areia, developed with the support of hybrid teaching. This hybrid methodology resulted in a high involvement with reading, a relevant satisfaction of the students with the developed activities and with the more participatory forms of assessment and an intense involvement in games and debates.
