Abstract

This article aims to analyze the expressive values of the repetitions in the oral language in a corpus from NURC/SP Project. “Repetition” is understood as “identical or similar discursive segments which are produced twice or more times in the same communicative event” and only consecutive segments are considered alike. In the analysis, we analyse values as adjectivation, which is understood as an adjectival effect achieved by repeating words. The superlative effect can occur by repetition and coincide with other superlative forms as the suffix -inho. The repetition also presents an aspectual value related with the iterative and durative aspects. In addition to that, there is the hyperbolic the emphatic and the undefined repetition.
