Abstract

Many manuals of Communication science, especially the ones about journalism, present an unsophisticated conception of language. In general, they are concerned with the technical use of language resources and ignore the way language operates. This paper proposes that French Discourse Analysis (AD), according to which language is conceived in its relation to ideology, the unconscious, and is especially connected to interdiscursivity; can not only provide a collaborative dialogue with communication but also contribute to improve its practice.
