Abstract

This paper presents a brief description of manner of movement verbs in BP. We show their behavior in lexical aspect diagnostics and we propose that lexical aspect can be derived from a lexical-semantic representation in terms of lexical decomposition, within an approach that treats lexical aspect as a group of semantic properties. We also propose that cause, accomplishment and telicity are independent notions and we show how argument alternations can modify lexical aspect.
