Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the morphosyntactic treatment of compounds in Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS), as the ones presented in Figueiredo Silva & Sell (2009) and Felipe (2006). Based on the literature about compounds in American (ASL) and Brazilian sign languages, we will raise some questions about the treatment given to compounds in LIBRAS. Yet, we observe that there are few papers and books about morphology of LIBRAS and, starting by the discussion about compounds, we raise some questions about morphological aspects that are not really clear or are not detailed in this language.
