Abstract

This research describes the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects of complex constructions with perception verbs with evidential meanings. Three perception verbs are considered: ver (to see), ouvir (to hear) and sentir (to feel). They were selected since they are the most prototypical ones of each sense. The theoretical background of accounting perception verbs here rests on Functional Discourse-Grammar (HENGEVELD; MACKENZIE, 2008). The data analyzed comprise samples of spoken Portuguese, from Iboruna database (GONÇALVES, 2007), and of written texts, published in blogs and discussion forums. The results show that complex constructions with ver, ouvir and sentir express different types of evidentiality.
