Abstract

In this paper, I present a comparative study on Brazilian Portuguese (PB) and European Portuguese (PE), by focusing, at this time, the influence of phonic salience and tense on verbal agreement (CV) of first-person plural (1PP). For the analysis, I consider the Theory of Linguistic Variation (LABOV, 1966, 1972). The corpora used come from “The Iboruna Database”, composed of informants from São Paulo State (PBIP), and from “Reference Corpus of Contemporary Portuguese”, which is composed of informants from different regions of Portugal. The interviews were stratified equitably considering the social factors gender, education and age.
