Abstract

Language alterations in epilepsies can take place during the seizures or with the progression of the disease and intensification of its symptoms. We aim to present the main issues related to phenomena associated with epilepsy and to explicit which language alterations arise from these cases. In addition, we aim to indicate the contributions that can be given to neuropsychological and neurolinguistics studies, based on linguistic analyses that consider not only the difficulties of the subjects with the language resources, but also alternative strategies of signification. Our reflection is supported by Neurolinguistics of discoursive orientation, developed in IEL / UNICAMP.
